A Safari Nursery, Wall to Closet

Save to Pinterest

Two safari-themed pieces, made to work together or stand alone: a round name sign with hand-painted animal figures for the wall, and a set of animal-engraved closet dividers that sort clothes by size instead of by number. Both laser-cut and hand-finished in our Denver studio, both made to order.

A safari theme is one of the easiest nursery directions to commit to, since it isn't tied to a gender palette and it ages reasonably well past the baby years. The hard part is usually finding pieces that look like they belong in the same room instead of like they were bought from three different stores. That's the gap these two fill: the safari name sign anchors the wall with a lion, an elephant, a monkey, a giraffe, and a bunny hand-painted around a raised, laser-cut name, and the safari closet dividers carry the same animal-illustration approach onto eight discs that slide onto the closet rod, one per size, newborn through 3T.

Neither piece needs the other to work. The name sign is a standalone gift for a baby shower or a nursery reveal, and it's usually the piece people order first. The dividers solve a problem that shows up a little later, once the gifts and hand-me-downs start piling up and someone has to find the 6-9M onesie without pulling every drawer. Ordered together, the two pieces give the room one consistent visual language from the moment you walk in to the moment you open the closet.

Both are made in Baltic birch, a pale, fine-grained plywood that takes laser engraving cleanly and reads well in a bright nursery. The sign adds a dark stain and hand-painted figures for contrast on the wall; the dividers stay natural wood so the engraved animals read clearly against the grain in a closet that doesn't always have great light.

If you're still working out timing, the closet dividers pair naturally with our baby clothes sizing guide, which breaks down how long a baby actually wears each size and how to set the closet up around it. And if a name puzzle is next on the registry, our name puzzle by age guide covers what that piece is actually good for once your child is old enough to use it. Both signs and both dividers start cutting within 24 hours of your order and ship in 3–5 business days.

Safari Nursery Questions

Do the name sign and the closet dividers actually match, or just share a theme?
Both are laser-cut safari animals on wood, but they're not from one printed set, each piece is illustrated for what it does. The name sign's animals are hand-painted figures sized for a wall plaque; the dividers' animals are clean engraved outlines sized for a two-inch disc. They read as a family because they share a hand and a palette, not because they're stamped from the same die.
What's the difference between this and the nursery signs collection?
The nursery signs collection covers our full range, walnut and plain Baltic birch pieces included. This page is narrower on purpose: just the two safari-animal pieces, for anyone building specifically around a jungle or safari theme rather than a quiet, unthemed nursery.
Can I order the sign and the dividers together?
Yes, add both to your order and they'll ship together once both are finished. Both run 3–5 business days, so ordering them at the same time is the easiest way to get them landing close together.
Which one should I buy first if I can only get one right now?
The name sign, if the wall is the priority, since it's the piece most baby showers and first photos center on. The dividers, if the closet is already full of hand-me-downs and gifts and you need a sorting system now. Neither depends on the other; they're designed to work as a pair or on their own.
