We make wood Christmas ornaments, laser-engraved and, where the design calls for it, hand-painted. Our ready-to-order piece is the Baby Announcement Ornament: a round disc of layered Baltic birch, engraved “Merry Christmas Mommy & Daddy” across the top and “See You In” plus the arrival year across the bottom, with two raised footprint layers and a hand-painted Santa hat set between the two lines. What’s personalized, and what stays fixed

On the Baby Announcement Ornament, the only detail you choose is the arrival year on the bottom line. The top wording, the two footprints, and the Santa hat are a fixed design and don’t change order to order. That keeps the proof step quick: there’s one detail to check before we cut. If you want a family name, initials, or a specific date engraved instead, that’s a custom layout, not a stock design, so it goes through custom order rather than the regular checkout, and we’ll come back with a proof and a quote before anything runs.

Engraved versus painted, and what each one needs

The lettering and the footprint outlines are engraved into the wood, cut rather than printed, so normal handling won’t wear them away. The Santa hat is the one part of this piece that gets hand-painted, red for the body and white for the brim and pom, applied in order and dried between coats. Painted details can fade with direct sun or dull with damp storage, so keep a painted ornament out of both when it’s boxed up between Decembers, and keep water off the painted and engraved faces alike.

Care between seasons

Dust it with a soft, dry cloth rather than anything wet; water can lift hand-applied paint and swell wood around an engraved line. Store it away from direct sunlight and out of damp basements, attics, or garages, since a humid storage spot does more damage over the off-season than the one Christmas it spends on the tree. If a raised layer ever feels loose, stop hanging it and reach out rather than re-gluing it yourself.

We begin production once you approve your digital proof, and each ornament’s page lists its own ship time; the Baby Announcement Ornament ships in 5–7 business days after that. Since the proof step comes before cutting starts, placing your order with some room for that review, rather than right up against the date you need it, gives us the most flexibility to get it right the first time.
