Each divider is a circle of Baltic birch with a safari animal laser-engraved on the face and a size label below it. Giraffe for newborn. Elephant for 0–3M. Lion for 3–6M. Hippo for 6–9M. Zebra for 9–12M. Monkey for 12–18M. Rhino for 18–24M. Cheetah for 2T–3T. The animal matches the size without you having to read the number — you learn the system in a day, and so does anyone else who helps with laundry.
The slot at the top fits standard nursery closet rods, wood or metal, up to ¾ inch diameter. You hang them on the rod. They slide easily when you need to move clothes between sections, and they stay put when you don’t. No hooks, no clips, nothing to lose.
The 8-piece set covers newborn through 3T. Most parents want this one — it runs the full span of infant and toddler sizing in one purchase. The 5-piece set covers newborn through 12M if you want to start smaller and order more later.
The material
Baltic birch is what I reach for when the piece needs to be light and hold detail. It’s a hardwood plywood — layered cross-grain construction that resists warping — with a pale, even face that the laser engraves cleanly into. The animals and size labels read sharp against the natural wood color. No painting, no staining — just the wood and the mark the laser leaves in it.
After engraving, I hand-sand each piece through three grits and finish with a thin coat of natural satin lacquer. The lacquer protects against moisture and makes the surface wipe-clean with a damp cloth. Nursery things need to survive proximity to a lot of liquid. These will.
Each divider is ¼ inch thick and approximately 6 inches in diameter — light enough that a full set on the rod adds no noticeable weight, rigid enough that they hang flat without curling.
The animals
I chose the animal set for visual variety and recognizability — shapes that read differently at a glance so you don’t confuse giraffe for zebra when you’re moving quickly. The animals are engraved as outline illustrations: clean lines, no fill, consistent line weight across the set so they look like a cohesive collection when the rod is full.
The size label sits below each animal in a clean block font — the number or range in the same engraving pass as the animal, same depth, same clean edge. Everything on one face. The back is smooth, unfinished birch.
What I need from you
Set size. That’s it. No personalization fields beyond that — the animal assignments are fixed across the set so each piece has meaning beyond a generic number. If you want a different animal assignment or a name engraved on one of the dividers, message me before ordering and I’ll work out a custom quote.
A note on sizing labels
The sizes I use match standard US infant and toddler sizing conventions:
- NB — Newborn (up to ~8 lbs)
- 0–3M — 0 to 3 months
- 3–6M — 3 to 6 months
- 6–9M — 6 to 9 months
- 9–12M — 9 to 12 months
- 12–18M — 12 to 18 months
- 18–24M — 18 to 24 months
- 2T–3T — Toddler sizes 2 and 3
If you’re buying this as a gift and aren’t sure which set to choose, the 8-piece set is the one — it covers everything from the first days home through the toddler years, and parents use them until the closet grows out of the system.
Production and shipping
I cut and engrave the full set in a single laser session, sand and finish them together, and package them as a set in a kraft box with a card showing which animal goes with which size. The set is small enough to ship First Class with tracking.
I start within 24 hours of your order. The full production-to-ship timeline is 3–5 business days. I’ll send a shipping notification with tracking when the box goes out.
As a baby shower gift
Closet dividers are one of those things new parents don’t think to put on the registry but use every day for two years. They’re the kind of gift that is practical, beautiful, and useful immediately — the moment the first outfit arrives. The safari animals add visual interest to the closet even before the baby comes home, and they become a tool for learning size transitions as the baby grows.
If you’re buying this as a gift, it works equally well before the shower or after. Some parents get them a few weeks into babyhood, when they’ve already accumulated a bunch of tiny clothes and are starting to wonder which closet system to use. Others request them at the shower, knowing they’ll have a newborn’s wardrobe of every tiny size. Anytime in the first few weeks is useful, and the dividers will earn their keep through all three years of use.
The kraft box it ships in is gift-ready as-is — simple, clean, branded with my name and the ImprintLuxury mark. If you’d like a handwritten note included, add it in the order notes and I’ll tuck it in with care.
A note on care and durability
These dividers are made to survive the nursery. Birch is dense and wipe-clean. The satin lacquer finish is durable enough to handle sticky fingers, juice spills, and the rough handling of a closet that gets opened and closed dozens of times a day. The lacquer is food-safe and non-toxic — safe for a baby to touch, taste, or mouth if they get curious.
If the dividers ever need refreshing after years of use, the lacquer can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and a mild soap. The engraved animals and labels won’t wear off — laser engraving is permanent, part of the wood itself.
The slot that holds the rod won’t widen or warp. Birch’s cross-grain plywood construction resists the kind of movement that would loosen the fit over time. Year one, year two, year three — the dividers stay stable.
Ordering for multiples
If you’re buying for more than one child (twins, or spacing kids a few years apart), you might want sets that don’t overlap. The 8-piece set covers newborn through 3T. If you have a second child coming soon and want to hand off the first child’s dividers to the next, plan for that. Or get multiple sets and use them in separate closets. I’m happy to work with you on logistics — add notes during checkout or message me before ordering.
