The wrong size sign is either too quiet to register or too loud for its wall. This guide is based on measurements from our studio.
| Size | Dimensions | Best for | Viewing dist. | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Petite | 8" × 3" | Desk, nightstand, small shelf, window sill | Up to 4 ft | Reads well as an accent detail. Works on a bathroom or kitchen counter. |
| Small | 12" × 5" | Bathroom wall, bookshelf, kitchen ledge, small bedroom | 4 to 6 ft | Suits kids' rooms and nurseries. Fits above a crib or dresser. |
| Medium | 18" × 7" | Bedroom accent wall, home office, laundry room, hallway | 6 to 9 ft | The workhorse size. Visible from a seated position across most rooms. |
| Large | 24" × 9" | Living room, dining room, entryway, above a sofa | 9 to 12 ft | Good for open-plan spaces. |
| Statement | 30"+ × 12" | Above fireplace, primary entryway, barn door | 12 ft+ | Designed to anchor a room or a feature wall. Our signs are made for indoor use. |
Quick-measure method
Stand at the spot you'd normally view the sign from. Estimate the distance in feet, then find it in the viewing distance column above. At 8 ft away, aim for at least 7-8" height. Round up for high-traffic walls.
Wall proportion rule
A sign's width should be 50 to 70% of the wall feature it sits on (mantel, headboard, console). Below 50% reads as an afterthought. Above 70% starts to compete with the architecture. Center it visually.
Walnut-stained birch
Warm dark tone. Rich contrast with light-colored walls. Best indoors. Holds lettering with high edge definition.
Baltic birch
Lighter tone, fine grain. Versatile with any palette. Good for nurseries and farmhouse-style spaces.
